Dr. Bethune is wearing an academic gown, cap, and tassel, with a white dress. The man standing to the right of her, the speaker, is wearing a suit, academic gown, cap, and tassel. His identity is not known. Behind the, guests and faculty are lined up two-by-two to the sidewalk that runs along the road. A pergola can be seen standing over the line. Looking to the left of the pergola, in the background, is the line of students in their gowns and caps, standing on the sidewalk by the fence. Beyond the pergola (across the street), is a house. Many trees can also be seen the photograph. On the back of the photograph is the stamp of the photographer's studio.
