At the left of the image is Richard Vernon Moore, Sr., president of Bethune-Cookman University at the time. He is standing behind a podium. Seated behind them are additional faculty and staff, wearing caps, gowns, and tassels. On the back of the photograph is the stamp of the photographer's studio, as well as the following note, "Pres. Moore looks on as Mrs. Bethune presents award to student 1950."
