The letter J can be seen on his hat, the initial for the Jacksonville Tarpons baseball team. Paul Cobb played baseball for Sanford in 1916, and managed the team for part of the year. Paul Cobb is the brother of baseball player Ty Cobb. On the back of the photograph is written, "Paul Cobb, brother of Ty Cobb, played with Sanford 1916."
