Description

A mid-1980s view of the main nave and chancel of the brick church, as photographed from the balcony. One can see small portions of the (1957) transepts which extend outward...to north and south... from both sides of the chancel. Until the 80's, the south transept (to the right) housed a sacristy, a vestry and other office space. But those functions were moved to the former parsonage building in order to add pews to seat the members of the growing congregation. When this was done, the altar (once flush with the east wall) was moved forward to improve the sight lines for those seated in the transepts. The gold dossal cloth was removed and an illuminated wooden cross now dominated the east wall of the chancel.
