Description

Young Paul Lukas, Jr. holds a celery bouquet in the fields of his family's farm in Slavia, c.1921. Standing in the rear are his father, Paul Lukas, Sr. and mother, Maria. This image was used, in part, for a watercolor collage by Dr. James Koevenig. The painting was commissioned as a cover wrap for the book, "Like A Mustard Seed: The Slavia Settlement," the history of St. Luke's (1911-1934) authored by Dr. Paul Wehr. The photo also appeared in the published version of that book. JPEG image collected by Judy Duda for the church's 90th Anniversary celebration, 2002.
