Description

Pastor Stephen M. Tuhy was an accomplished musician who not only sang with the Bach choir in Winter Park, but directed St. Luke's choir himself for many years. In this photo he poses with more than twenty adult choir members following the festive service on Palm Sunday, 1961. The following year, he suffered a heart attack and Judy Duda (black and white skirt,to left of Rev. Tuhy) became the Choir Director (and an organist) for the church.Under her leadership, the choir presented an annual Christmas concert for several years. Pastor Tuhy succumbed to a second, fatal heart attack on Dec. 26, 1967. The 1968 Christmas Concert was dedicated to his memory and a record album ("Beside Thy Manger") was produced as a memorial, as well. Copies were sold to raise funds for choir robes.; Scan from church publication: Fifty Years of Grace and Mercy 1912-1962, scan of record album cover, front and back
