Description

The original residents of the Lutheran Haven Old Folks' Home (aka: "Home for the Aged") gather near the front porch of the facility, c. 1950, and appear to be enjoying the Florida weather. None of the residents are identifiable. But standing near the center, in dark dress with white dots. is Deaconess Marie Hartos, who served as the supervisor for both the Old Folks' and Children's Homes in their earliest years. "Aunt Marie" had been trained and experienced in her work at the Lutheran Institute for the Deaf in Detroit, MI, before assuming this important role at the Lutheran Haven.
