It also provides information on the faculty, the school and its academic programs, as well as rules and regulations regarding student life. The cover notes that Cookman Institute was "Founded and Sustained by the Freedman's Aid Society, of the Methodist Episcoal Church." At the end of the catalog are advertisements for Benedict & McConihe, hardware and cutlery retailers; Horace Drew, job printer; and Jones & Bowen, wholesale grocers. NOTE: Cookman Institute, originally in Jacksonville, Florida, was officially incorporated into Mary McLeod Bethune's Daytona Normal and Industrial Institute for Girls in 1923, in Daytona Beach, forming Bethune-Cookman College.
