Biographical Note

Helen and Bill Warner moved to Florida around 1885. They stayed in Winter Park while waiting for their house to be built in Narcoossee. Once settled, they planted an orange grove. They stayed in Orlando for three months in 1886, for the birth of their daughter. Bill Warner captained the steamer "Colonist" for a short while, leaving his wife and daughter living at the Tropical Hotel in Kissimmee. The husband had problems finding work. The family attempted to sell the orange grove in June 1887. When the letters come to an end, the family did not have any set plans as to what to do next.
