Abstract

Small-signal gain properties of Cr3+-doped LiSrAlF6 are measured for the first time to our knowledge. Maxi-mum small-signal gain values of 0.17 cm-1 are reported for pi-polarized light. For sigma-polarization, the gain is significantly suppressed by excited-state absorption.
