Whatever its origin, the term “Florida Cracker” is used both positively and negatively. In its broadest sense, Florida Cracker is the name for pioneer settlers and their descendants. These pioneers, mostly of Scotch-Irish heritage, first arrived in Florida during the 18th and early 19th centuries.
