Abstract

A sample of 510 CHRIE-member hospitality educators teaching in two- and four-year institutions was used to identify the academic structure of their academic institution and specific hospitality/tourism educational unit. Faculty compensation and working conditions were also explored. Two hundred forty-six (246) questionnaires were returned from the faculty to yield a response rate of 48.2%. To verify faculty salary reports, 249 questionnaires were sent to deans, chairs and directors. Sixty-six (66) questionnaires were returned to yield a response rate of 26.5% and provided information on 262 hospitality faculty salaries.
