Description
Teachers often serve as primary emotional and social support for students facing trauma, yet many feel unprepared for such roles. This case study explores the integration of ChatGPT as a 'more knowledgeable other' (MKO) within a trauma-informed pedagogical model in teacher education. ChatGPT is utilized to simulate complex student-teacher interactions, providing immediate, actionable feedback, offering diverse perspectives, and facilitating critical reflection on potential biases while developing skills aligned with best practices in trauma-informed education. Although ChatGPT is a valuable MKO, incorporating human oversight and context-specific knowledge is crucial to mitigate biases and ensure comprehensive, equitable educational practices.
