Description
In November 1980, Harrison Price Company (HPC) completed a revised economic planning analysis for the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition, which finalized attendance projections, physical facilities requirements, and estimates of financial performance. As a supplement to that study, the fair’s organization committee, Louisiana World Exposition, Inc. requested HPC to prepare an economic impact analysis of the event, focusing on certain key sectors of the local economy that would be appreciably stimulated by the staging of a major world exposition. The sectors are employment, retail sales, demand for materials, and services consumed in the construction and operation of the fair, and tax revenues accruing to various local and state government agencies. The supplemental report presents the results of HPC’s impact assessment based on attendance and economic performance guidelines for the fair established in the earlier revised planning study. The report has the following 3 sections: 1) introduction, 2) economic impact of the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition, and 3) summary of findings. The report includes tables.
