Abstract

In a recent article in this journal, Kenneth W. Porter has raised the question of the identity of the Indian negroes of Andros Island in the Bahamas. As the result of investigations on Andros Island in the summer of 1937, it is possible to clarify the problem, and positively to identify the legendary Indians of Andros Island as Seminole Negroes. A more detailed historical investigation of the problem had been contemplated, but present conditions make it impossible to complete the research as originally outlined.
