Abstract
Two vertically arranged photographs of the University of Florida's football team wearing bathing suits on a beach appear in the 1913 edition of the school's yearbook, The Seminole. The top picture shows the squad in formation, ready to run offensive drills. In the bottom one, every player smiles for the camera as they form a human pyramid. A caption under the two photos reads, "'Gators making merry in Cuba."1
