Abstract
Prior to this study, the hot water use of a typical Publix store had not been monitored, nor had the backup electrical energy use used by the hot water tanks been monitored. The study objective of this effort contracted with the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) was to analytically determine the time of day hot water use (Btu and gallons) and time of day backup electrical use (kWh and kW) of a typical Publix store that has refrigeration heat recovery by directly monitoring this energy use. Publix Store #1158, located at 15502 Stoneybrook West Parkway in Winter Garden, Florida was selected for this study. This report provides the results of these studies.
