Abstract
How is love represented in language and thought? Dr. Christian Beck (English) discusses his recent article in which he claims that English lacks an adequate vocabulary to clearly explicate and discuss the abstract idea of love. As a result, we utilize metaphors that draw from concrete experience as a means to relate the emotion in understandable terms: love as a container, love as a fluid, as fire, a physical force, as ability/power, to name just a few.
