Photo Description

Pictured are two of the prominent structures of early Rollins College. On the left is the original Knowles Hall, the first building on the campus. The building served many purposes, it included classrooms, a chapel, and for a time, the campus library. The entire building was lost to a fire of undetermined cause on December 2, 1909. To the right of Knowles Hall is Pinehurst Cottage, it has also served many purposes, such as a dormitory and temporarily housing the campus library. Pinehurst Cottage is currently the oldest building at Rollins College.
