Photo Description

The home of James H. Bear, Bear was a veteran of the Civil War in addition to serving as the town treasurer and as an alderman. A man, likely Bear sits on a chair on the porch with a dog laying at his feet. The house contains many elements of the Cracker style, such as a steep roof to shed rainwater, a large deep shade porch, and being slightly raised off the ground. To the left of the house is a small shed with a series of chicken coops in front of it.
