Abstract
Organized as a practical guide for communication teachers, this article addresses burnout, boredom, stress, and detachment in teaching. It identifies symptoms such as predictable routines, technical monologue, overused verbal patterns, absenteeism, and health related stress responses, then links these difficulties to unmet role related needs. The article presents a chart of needs, actions, and effects designed to help teachers regain perspective, alleviate boredom, get off the treadmill, test what they teach, gain rewards, remain adaptable, and take professional risks. Suggested actions include varying routines, team teaching, changing course design, seeking feedback, writing, joining committees, trying new teaching environments, and confronting conflicts constructively.
