Abstract
Institutional article production in theatre is analyzed through a year by year and journal by journal review of selected theatre journals. The article situates publication frequency as one possible measure of institutional research activity while noting that it should be considered alongside other indicators of quality. It describes a method for assigning publication credit to institutions, including procedures for handling shared authorship and criteria for excluding reviews, bibliographies, reports, plays, and commentaries. The article presents ranked institutional publication totals and journal specific patterns across the period studied. By connecting research productivity, institutional comparison, and disciplinary publication patterns, the article contributes to theatre program administration, communication administration, and higher education assessment.
