Abstract
This introduction presents the theme and structure of a seminar devoted to roles and powers in communication administration. It situates the collected essays, case studies, and discussion reports as resources for examining administrative responsibilities in departments, colleges, and professional settings. The introduction outlines sessions addressing the work of chairs, deans, fellows, and other communication administrators, with attention to leadership, common problems, and the development of administrative skill in speech communication and higher education.
