Abstract
This document outlined the constitution and by-laws of the Association for Communication Administration (ACA) as adopted in 1987. The constitution established the Association’s purposes, including promoting communication among administrators, providing forums for disciplinary issues, and advancing communication arts and sciences in higher education. Membership was defined as institutional, with representation by administrative officers. Governance was placed in the Executive Committee, which oversaw elections, finances, meetings, and amendments. The by-laws detailed yearly activities, such as publishing the ACA Bulletin, conducting surveys of communication departments, and determining dues. Additional provisions addressed representation, reliance on the Speech Communication Association for support facilities, and indemnification of officers. Together, the constitution and by-laws provided the organizational framework for governance, accountability, and service to member institutions during this period,
