Abstract

This article presents an algorithmic salary model that guides higher education administrators in setting equitable faculty pay based on transparent assessment. Built on database software, the model shifts attention from annual increments to overall salary relationships, integrating rank, experience, career productivity, career visibility, and annual performance into a menu driven calculation of projected salaries. Assignable salary units are distributed across these factors according to predetermined weightings, then compared with budgeted figures to direct discretionary adjustments, thereby preserving equity during fluctuating funding cycles. The model encourages consistent faculty evaluation, links reward to sustained scholarly contribution and public visibility, and generates audit trails that support developmental feedback. By marrying institutional research, human resource management, and academic governance, this article contributes a replicable decision support tool for salary equity, resource planning, and motivation within communication, fine arts, and related academic units.
