Archives Month Florida

The Society of Florida Archivists, in conjunction with the Society of American Archivists, celebrates October as American Archives Month. American Archives Month is a collaborative effort by professional organizations and repositories around the nation to highlight the importance of records of enduring value. Archivists are professionals who assess, collect, organize, preserve, maintain control of, and provide access to information that has lasting value.

This online exhibit is made up of digitized materials from the rich archival collections around our state, celebrating both Archives Month and the 500th anniversary of Ponce De Leon's arrival in Florida. Viva Florida! Florida's historical and cultural heritage is preserved and shared by archival institutions throughout the state. From the State Archives, to university and college archives, to historical sites and historical societies, archives are here for you to discover.

Exhibit curated by Sandra Varry in 2013.
