Description
The inspiration for this piece lie in my own struggles with anxiety and fear. Anxiety and fear can gradually become bigger and bigger, until one day you’re staring it in the face, in the form of a monster right in front of you. You have two choices, to take steps to defeat this monster of your own creation, or to let it live inside of you. When you let it live inside of you instead of conquering it, you become so comfortable with it that sometimes it doesn’t seem like a real threat. You find a new normal. This is what that piece presents. A girl embracing her own monster. It is threatening but she is too scared to take the steps to defeat it. She finds a new normal with her monster, her fears become a bubble of comfort. The setting is a dark cave, an unlivable place, but at the same time it is a bit fairytale like. This symbolizes the push and pull of dealing with anxiety induced fears.
