Description

From artist statement:

The concepts addressed in my artist book are about how we interpret beauty through apparel to enhance parts of ourselves to feel and appear more beautiful. Throughout the book, I display articles of clothing from different periods throughout the world. I also ask questions to the reader to make the reader think about why certain types of clothing were worn and how they made the women beautiful. By displaying various clothing articles, I want my readers to question why people might have worn these items and the benefit they saw in wearing them. By thinking about these different forms of apparel throughout the book I ask my reader at the end how they see beauty and if these differed forms they saw challenged their interpretation. The format of my book, an accordion, conveys my ideas thoroughly by taking the form of a timeline.
