Description
Artist statement:
For this book, I choose to bring to light the issues that are slowly being swept away into the darkness using lyrics and images. These issues have been going on for a while with some resurfacing in recent times. This book touches on the subjects of racism, sexism, and homophobia and homes in on the different aspects of each and how it affects each member of the groups affected by them. In terms of the lyrics, they are from songs that have recently come out ranging to songs written more than a decade ago. This proves my statement that these issues were around and are still prominent, becoming more and mor entwined with numeracy where no one bats an eye. Though not all the issues affect me personally that doesn’t mean I will stand idly by in silence, as I want my voice to be heard by sharing the voices of artists that fight for what is right. By creating this book, I hope that if they don’t listen to me, they might just listen to them.
