Description
The amount of carving and use of a steady hand involved in this piece are, in many ways, like the process of creating a book. You have to plan with purpose, work diligently, and then step back and evaluate the work from every angle. Trees represent the genesis of the written notes and printed pages. The blank pages and blank notes allow one to visualize and imply the stories that we've read and are able to formulate. This book as a blank canvas gives the viewer a time to reflect on these journeys they already read, ones that allow us to figuratively take flight like the birds that pull the page up with their wings.
