Medium

Davy board, book cloth, gems, digital prints on glossy paper

Description

I chose to use an accordion style layout for my book, Iris and Bloom, because I personally favor the eclectic and varied feel it creates for the reader as they are viewing the pages of content throughout the book. This is a digitally illustrated picture book which focuses on feminine aesthetics. Each page includes a visual combination of two feminine symbols, including flowers and female gazes. I chose a glossy photo paper for the interior pages because I wanted the color filled illustrations to pop out at the viewer, and give a semi-reflective look to the pages. The two hard cover book ends were handmade with decorative paper, book board, and rhinestones which I arranged on the front cover. The book is intended to be excessively decorative and eye catching which is intended to parallel the allure of feminine beauty.
