Description

Winner of the 2016 Book Arts Competition

This book was a project deeply personal and reflective for me. I have dealt with anxiety very harshly this past year and this book was a chance to explore that and find the creative outlook I need to cope with my own anxieties. I have always felt very in tune with animals and nature, however, I have only ever focused my art on people in the past. This was a personal challenge of mine to create a serene and magical piece involving both people and animals.

This work was inspired by my own personal experience with anxiety. Each animal is a representation of thoughtful and introspective ways to cope with such anxieties. Animals have always offered a sense of safety and peace for me, and I hope they will offer that to you as well.
