Description
young. goes through the stages of grief I experience while my cousin died. His departure from the world was a process that took four days. He and I were not particularly close, but he was always an ally in a family that struggled to accept members that had differing world views and lifestyles. Although he was in bad health for a while, most of us did not know how severe it was until we knew he was on life support in the hospital.
When I knew he was dying, I felt compelled to be present for it. I could not stop thinking the same thoughts over and over as I tried to accept what was happening. Putting these thoughts to paper, and organizing them to allow others to walk through them, was cathartic and healing. There is no judgement intended, only observation and acceptance.
