The newest parking garage to be built on the UCF campus is the one located on Gemini Boulevard near the Knight’s Plaza and the Psychology Building. The parking garage added 1,326 parking spaces, according to a February 2010 Central Florida Future article, alleviating parking for the nearly 54,000 students enrolled at UCF during the 2010-2011 academic year. Although the parking garage did not remove the issue of parking as students at UCF have noticed since the early 1970s, it did help alleviate the reduction of parking at the West end of campus while construction of the new Performing Arts Building impacted parking on that side of campus. The addition of Parking Garage H will also help with athletic events and entertainment events held on the North part of campus. The garage also incorporates a sustainable design and construction as well as a money saving feature: an internal storm-water retention vault. The first estimated completion date of Parking Garage H was in December of 2011, however, construction was delayed by several months due to the finalizing of contract and permit details. The garage was completed by April of 2011.
