UCF Health Services was established when UCF, then Florida Technological University, first opened its doors in 1968 and was located in present-day Ferrell Commons. In 1981, it acquired its own building, which is presently known as the Counseling Center. In March 2003 construction began on the new Health Center, located adjacent to its old home. The 32,000 square feet Health Center is twice the size of the first center and is located on the southeast side of campus near the Libra residence halls. This outpatient facility provides low-cost primary and limited specialty care services to the UCF community along with housing a state-of-the art pharmacy. Registered UCF students can use the Health Center regardless of health insurance coverage.
Part of UCF Health Services, Knight Aide Pharmacy & Convenience Store is located on campus in Knight’s Plaza, near the arena. Similar to the flagship UCF Pharmacy, located in the Health Center, Knight Aide offers a wide selection of affordable over-the-counter and discounted prescription medications. In addition, Knight Aide has an expanded selection of snacks, convenience items, beauty aids and grocery staples - including bread, milk and eggs! In 2009, Health Services opened the UCF Dental Center, located on the second floor of the Health Center. Like the Health Center, UCF students can use the Dental Center regardless of dental insurance coverage.
