Description
In 1972, Sea World was proceeding with plans to develop a water-oriented theme park on property located within five miles of Disney World on Interstate 4 in Orange County, Florida. It was Sea World’s intention to capitalize on the expected large influx of tourists brought to the area by Disney World. Sea World’s concept is to bring together the best elements of its San Diego and Ohio parks with a distinct identity and a level of quality similar to that of Disney World. The capital expenditure of the park was estimated at approximately $12 million. Economics Research Associates was retained by Sea World to reevaluate its original economic projections for the Florida park based on an analysis of the actual and projected operating performance of Disney World. The resulting report represents the findings of that research effort. The report has the following sections: 1) introduction, 2) Disney World, and 3) revised economic projections for Sea World. The report has 12 tables.
