Boats anchored near a dock on Great Whale Cay. In the distance are mangroves. Great Whale Cay, in the Berry Island chain of the Bahamas, was the home of Marion Barbara “Joe” Carstairs. Carstairs was an openly gay, British world champion speedboat racer in the 1920's who bought the island in 1934. Slide labeled Carstair's Isle, Mar. '46.
