Monument to the victims of the battleship Maine The monument reads, "For the victims of the Maine from the people of Cuba" The battleship Maine blew up and sank in Havana's harbor February 15, 1898. This monument had an eagle at the top, but was removed after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
