Description

Printed color Black Americana postcard. Front: Black man in hat looking over fence, with dog and watermelon at the other side of the fence. Entitled "Thou art so near and yet so far." Back: The card is addressed to Miss Blanche E. Bagby. Stamped "LYNN, MASS JUL 6 3 PM 1905". Black people were portrayed in an unflattering and stereotypical manner in postcards and other products at that time.
