Postcard consisting of 2 pages (front & back). Front: Black and white photograph, the Drummer boy Jackson, a former enslaved person and then drummer for the Union Army in the 79th U.S. Colored Troops in Louisiana. Back has text: 'Drummer Jackson' 79th United States Colored Troops. This image was one of many propaganda acts used to encourage Negro enlistments." The term “Negro” appeared on the postcard is outdated and its contemporary preferred term is “Black people.”
