Description

A concert performed by the UCF Symphony Orchestra on November 23, 2013 for St. Luke's Concert Series, was attended by President John Hitt and several other university dignitaries. In addition to Dvorak's "Symphony no. 9" and Mozart's. "Horn Concerto no. 3," the program (Melody Rules) featured the World Premiere of "Florida Home - An Overture for Orchestra with Choir," composed by Dr. Christopher Marshall in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the University of Central Florida. The first emanation of "Florida Home" had been dedicated to Dr. John Hitt, in honor of his extraordinary service to UCF. The "orchestra with choir" version, performed at St. Luke's, was dedicated to Judy Duda, in recognition of the collaboration the Concert Series and St. Luke's Concert Series had sustained for two decades. The orchestra was conducted by Dr. Laszlo Marosi and the UCF Chorus was directed by Dr. David Brunner.
