Photo Description
Printed and signed one hundred dollar of the Confederate States of America. Interest-bearing notes were one form of currency issued by the Confederate government. In this example, "Six months after Ratification of a Treaty of Peace between the Confederate States and the United States / The CONFEDERATE STATES of AMERICA / Will pay / ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS to Bearer with Interest at two cents per day / RECEIVABLE IN PAYMENT OF ALL DUES EXCEPT EXPORT DUTIES." It depicts milk maid at left, locomotive with black smoke in center, white paper, black print, plain back. Date is hand inscribed, serial number is hand inscribed, signature is hand signed. Printing: "J T Paterson, Columbia, S. C."
