Abstract
Librarians and Faculty have a shared goal to reduce textbook costs by finding alternative ways to provide the same quality content, but at a price students can handle. One way to accomplish this is by utilizing electronic and open resources. This session will provide guidelines for librarians supporting faculty during this transition. Participants will learn how to collaborate with faculty to identify resource needs, evaluate when to utilize open textbook options, techniques to help reticent faculty make a smooth transition, and tips on how to support student access throughout the course.Learning Objectives:Participants will be able to identify key planning elements to help Faculty transition to using online and open resources.Participants will be able to analyze course materials and environments to help support faculty identify when developing an open textbook is the better option.
