Abstract

Last year I presented at ELO, in Ireland, the Artistic piece "Bastard" a digital fiction that combine a fragmented novel to create 10x149 differents texts and optimized in 4 billions coherent stories with narrative structures. In Orlando we want to explain how the system works, theory and functioning, and invited all the members to produce they personal "infinite" fiction.

Non Infinite Stories is an electronic publishing house that creates a dynamic hyperliterature system to give each reader a unique book by using a digital combinatorial processes, specific narrative rules and optimization of fragmented works in chapters of short narrative blocks, millions of possible readings are generated with different approaches and resolutions.

This year we open the platform so every user can contribute and maximize the possibilities of a text in the search of expand the system and the texts.

In NIS we have "books" of essays that are customized according to the needs and readings of the users. There are also classic stories such as the “I ching", which guesses your fortune, or "The 1001 Nights" that makes you the sultan who listens to a different story every night... plots that with NIS vary in structure and functionality in a random way; novels that are combined and optimized with different formulas or specific works, such as in the remix of novels central to contemporary literature, works that we admire. In the same way there is poetry, contemporary stories in different languages and latitudes, children’s stories ...

Digital tools allow the transformation of the fixed relation of the plot to a specific reconfiguration created by opening the discourse between the user and the machine and breaking the interpretive postulate of the theory of reception, the active co-creator/reader can be offered a personalized work. Our idea is that this would result in profound changes to the way of telling and reading the stories.
