Abstract
In this paper we consider a general class of two-dimensional steady and unsteady plasma flows described by the Charney-Hasegawa-Mima equation for which the vorticity is proportional to the stream function (which is the same as the electrostatic potential in a guiding-center plasma) perturbed by a uniform stream of which the well-known solitary-vortex solution of Larichev and Reznik is just one special case. We will give exact analytical solutions for such flows representing a perturbation over a uniform stream, and a physical interpretation of these solutions.
