Abstract
The most significant advancement in the field of quality control have occurred since the 1920's with the development of statistical quality contol. A major area of statistical quality control is acceptance sampling, in which the decision to either accept or reject a lot is based on the result of a sample from that lot.
This paper is a review of literature relevant to the economic design of attributes sampling plans. It surveys the classical works in the field, as well as later work that has been built upon these. Also included are approaches very different from the original work.
