Abstract
This letter gives a generalized spectral law for the inverse energy cascade in a forced-two-dimensional turbulence that is in full agreement with the just-published first-ever experimental observations of Sommeria of the inverse energy cascade in a statistically steady two-dimensional turbulence. It is also demonstrated that the transfer of turbulent kinetic energy at small wavenumbers can be modeled as a stationary continuous spectral cascading process.
