    Abstract

A study is made of the steady two-dimensional hydromagnetic viscous flow between two long rotating eccentric cylinders in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. The effects of the magnetic field on the flow have been investigated numerically for a wide range of various parameters including the eccentric parameter, clearance ratio parameter, the modified Reynolds number and modified Hartmann number. It is shown that the magnetic field is to increase the pressure in the now. As the magnetic increases, the pressure field is also found to increase. Moreover, the small deviation of the stream lines from the usual circular pattern at the leading r-axis near the outer cylinder indicates that the effect of magnetic field is also to enhance the onset of the separation at that point. The stream function and the pressure field are calculated numerically and the results are presented graphically for a wide range of values of various flow parameters.
