    Abstract

Centipedes and millipedes were collected from November 1986 through December 1988 in 12 sandhill communities from north and central Florida. Most individuals were systematically collected with drift fences, funnel traps and pitfall traps; others were taken when observed in the field, by overturning logs and by searching in leaf litter. The collection included 223 centipedes of 7 species and 269 millipedes of 8 species. Abundance and species richness were generally unrelated to the ground surface habitat features that were examined for correlation.
