    Abstract

    A place exchange reaction between 11-mercaptoundecanoic acids (MUA) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)protected gold nanorods (GNRs) was conducted inside an ionic exchange resin; this modi. cation resulted in functional gold nanorods soluble in both polar and nonpolar organic solvents.
